KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — You may or may not agree with Obamacare but the Kalamazoo Group charged with helping people get signed up for the new programs says nearly twice as many have signed up here than in most U.S. counties.
Amy Terry, Spokesperson for Enroll Kalamazoo, says the new enrollees will reap all the rewards of having access to affordable healthcare.
Their preliminary number show they have helped sign up 12-thousand indigent residents in the Healthy Michigan program, and another 6 thousand through the Insurance exchanges.
She expects that number to be higher when the final count comes in.
They hope it will keep more people from resorting to the emergency room, and cut the overall cost of providing healthcare to the community.
