KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Fire investigators will be looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed a building that was being used as storage space at 2211 Miller Road Monday morning.
The tenant claimed he heard a few small pops and then the place filled with smoke.
The large commercial structure was being used as a warehouse for an online auction service, and Capt. James Mallery says while the building was totally destroyed, half of its contents were saved.
It must have been by the tenant, because the first arriving fire crews were confronted by 30 foot flames that prevented them from sending crews into the building to fight the fire.
They had to open a large sliding door and cut holes in the side of the pole barn construction to get at the flames.
