KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Tea Party for Kalamazoo and Van Buren County held a forum last night for a fair and even debate between proponents and opponents of Proposition one, but it was clear from the start that proponent Derek Nofz was at a disadvantage.
A straw poll showed that nearly 80% of those in attendance were against the road funding proposal, and only 6% were for it.
Nofz blames years of waffling and neglect by Lawmakers has left the state with its back against the wall, and with this decision to make, but one he says we must make because the legislature seems incapable.
Adam De Angeli with the Concerned Taxpayers in Michigan agreed that legislative ineptitude was the cause, but declared that Proposal 1 is not the solution. He says there were alternative proposals that didn’t call for tax hikes that were considered last fall that should be revisited.
There was also another speaker against the proposal and there was supposed to be another speaker for the proposal, but he got caught ironically in a back-up on I-94.
