State DHS to Keep Current Medicaid Prescription Drug Program

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Department of Community Health will maintain a current plan for 1.7 million Medicaid recipients in receiving prescription drugs through their managed care provider. The Governor had advocated centralizing pharmaceutical coverage in his proposed Fiscal 2016 state budget, saving 22 million dollars in the process, but both the Senate the House shot that idea down. The DCH will now have 14 current providers use the same formulary that would allow for a “more streamlined process.”
