LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Efforts to legalize what is commonly known as “ticket scalping” in Michigan now go to the state Senate after the House approved a measure that allows those purchasing ducats for sports and entertainment events to resell at above face value. Venues are opposed to the legislation, claiming that this will enable brokers to buy up large blocks of tickets online. Bill supporters say that this is a free market issue, and that venues have a reselling monopoly through deals with third-party brokers.
