Legalized Marijuana in Michigan Proposed by Ann Arbor State Lawmaker

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Efforts to legalize marijuana in Michigan may not have much support in the state Legislature. Democratic Representative Jeff Irwin of Ann Arbor told WKAR Michigan Public Television over the weekend that, as of now, he would have only 20 yes votes out of 110 total members in the House. However, he feels that, once his bill is formally into the legislative system, pressure from constituents could lead to the 56-vote threshold needed for passage. Irwin claims that the current ban is wasteful and a failure.
