KALAMAZOO (WKZO)- The Kalamazoo K-Wings were lucky once again on the Green Ice as they topped the Indy Fuel 5-3.
The K-Wings struck first on the night as Justin Taylor found the back of the net to give the K-Wings an early 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by former Western Michigan Bronco Justin Kovacs, who recently signed with the K-Wings.
The K-Wings took a 2-0 lead in the second period as Michael Neal put the puck past the Fuel’s goaltender Mac Carruth.
The Fuel however scored twice in the second period to tie the game up after two periods.
The K-Wings regained the lead in the third period as Gergo Nagy put it past the goaltender to give the K-Wings a 3-2 lead.
After the Fuel tied the game up again, the K-Wings took the lead for good with a goal off the stick of Patrick Kennedy and then Ludwig Blomstrand gave K-Wings some breathing room as he scored with about 5 minutes left in the third putting them up 5-3.
Joel Martin stopped 21 of the 24 shots he faced.
The K-Wings improved to 30-26-2-2 overall and play at home this Friday against the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm.
