KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Another sure sign of spring, Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema says city utility crews thawed out their last frozen water pipe on Friday.
The deep freeze that Michigan has experienced the last two winters had prompted the city to request that certain homeowners run a trickle of water.
He says if you have been running a trickle of water to avoid getting frozen out, you can turn off the taps now.
Kalamazoo peaked out at 70-degrees on Monday but forecasters say that was a fluke and Saint Patrick’s Day will bring a cold front back to the Midwest that could stick around for a while.
But not cold enough to refreeze the pipes.
Spring doesn’t officially arrive until Friday, so technically its still winter, and it will feel more like it today, and for the rest of the week.
