ALLEGAN (WKZO)– The employees at Allegan Metal Finishing got the news they had been dreading from Michigan Works yesterday. They were informed that the fire that destroyed the business had left them all unemployed.
The owner’s son, Joseph Sosnowski says they won’t know for sometime whether they will be able to rebuild.
That determination may depend on finding the cause, an effort that will begin today when the State Police fire Marshal arrives to investigate.
Jacob Maas, with Michigan Works says they are going to do everything they can to find new jobs for the 80 impacted employees.
Some of them have worked there for decades, starting straight out of High School. They will be searching for new jobs for the first time in their lives.
A job fair is planned for this Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Allegan to see if they find new jobs for the displaced industrial employees, who he says should have marketable skills in the current economy.
