ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – It was via a video linkup, but the man accused of gunning down his girlfriend and her two children in Dorr has appeared in an Allegan District Courtroom.
Corey LaValley Senior remains held without bond in the Allegan County Jail after an arraignment on felony counts of murder, arson and firearms possession stemming from the discovery on Tuesday of three persons inside of a burned out Briarwood Street mobile home. Sheriff’s detectives testified that the 32-year-old man allegedly gunned down 33-year-old Debra Sheppard, her 12-year-old daughter Emma McComber and 11-year-old son Corey Junior, her son by the accused, on Monday evening, and then came back the next day to torch the residence, apparently to hide evidence of the crime.
LaValley then went to Charlotte, where he reportedly told friends of what he had done. Since he was arrested there later on Tuesday evening, LaValley has remained mum to authorities. A gofundme.com page has been set up by Sheppard’s family to help defray funeral expenses.
