LANSING (WKZO) — A Battle Creek man, convicted in the 2011 death of 3-year-old Baylee Stenman, has made his argument to the Michigan Supreme Court.
Now all he can do is sit in his jail cell and wait to see if they agree that his lawyer did a shoddy job at his trial. 29-year-old Leo Ackley claims in his appeal that if his lawyer had called an expert witness to refute the testimony of state pathologists, he would be a free man today.
Of course the prosecutor also got 15-minutes to argue that Ackley’s case is nonsense.
The Justices will issue a decision sometime this summer, whether or not Ackley should get a new trial.
