KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A reserve police officer who showed up at a State Police Sting in full uniform, offering to exchange drugs for gay sex, will avoid jail but former Prairieville Reserve Lt. Michael Strong’s career in law enforcement is over.
Last fall he cut a deal with prosecutors, entering a guilty plea to a felony drug charge in exchange for having two other drug charges and a gun felony dismissed.
Monday he was given 18- months probation.
When State Troopers got a tip that he was swapping drugs for sex, they arranged through social media for a meeting with a 19-year-old at a Kalamazoo County Motel, in January of last year.
The Teen was a young looking decoy and the motel room wired for sound and pictures.
Strong’s attorney blamed his behavior on PTSD after two years of serving in Afghanistan, and said he is receiving professional counceling.
