LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Two bills dealing with body cameras for law enforcement officers in Michigan have been introduced in the state House. One would require any armed trooper, deputy or officer to wear an attached body camera, with all footage to be retained for at least two weeks, and video involving the use of force or an arrest kept for up to three years. The other legislation would exempt such footage from being made available through the Freedom of Information Act unless it is for a court proceeding.
