DETROIT (WKZO) — We thought we had the final number of claims for compensation from General Motors stemming from faulty ignition switches, but it’s climbed to four-thousand-345.
Another 33 claims were received after the deadline, but post marked before the eligible date.
The deadline for claims to be filed was January 31st, GM has set aside 400-million dollars to pay claims.
The independent compensation board has approved 151 claims so far, 57 for deaths caused by the defect and another 85 claims involving injury.
It could take them until later this spring to finish their review of the claims.
