KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — Kalamazoo Township is the only Kalamazoo County government with something on the ballot.
They are asking that voters decide a 9.75-million dollar bond issue to fix local roads.
The Township Board met last evening and there was little discussion about the vote, the trustees prohibited from campaigning while in session, and no public opposition was expressed, only a neutral statement from Supervisor Ron Reid urging people to vote.
State officials may be watching this election and any others like it across the state to get a gauge on how the public is feeling about raising taxes to fix roads, prior to the May statewide vote on road funding.
Polls remain open in Kalamazoo Township Precincts until 8 p.m.
