SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — There will be no charges considered against the wife of a Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer who shot a burglar over the weekend, after the man smashed out a window to get into her home.
Undersheriff Pauli Matyas says what the burglars didn’t know, really proved to be their undoing.
Matyas says she was concerned not only for her own safety but the safety of her children.

She ordered him to leave the home, giving the burglar fair warning, telling him to get out before she fired, wounding the home invader in the shoulder, when he continued to approach her.
Matyas says the burglars made a big mistake trying to break into this particular home Saturday night. She is an experienced hunter and familiar with firearms.
Matyas says that warrants have been issued charging both men with first degree home invasion.
One of them remains hospitalized with the shoulder wound but is expected to survive.
Bond has been ordered for both of them.
