LANSING (WKZO) — Governor Rick Snyder is scheduled to present his budget proposal for next year to a joint session of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees late Wednesday morning.
It will reportedly contain funding increases for education, including 28-million more dollars for the state’s colleges, and 36-million dollars more for vocational and technical education programs
It’s also expected to contain program cuts and eliminations and layoffs to help erase a half a billion dollar deficit projected for next year.
He is already drawing fire from Democrats who say his deep tax cuts for business have resulted in the proposed program cuts.
It is just a proposal. Both the House and Senate are expected to make changes before its returned to the Governor for his signature.
