GRAND HAVEN (WKZO) — 33-year-old Matthew Krueger of Downers Grove Illinois has been charged with a terrorist act and the malicious destruction of property for his alleged unarmed one-man assault on the Coast Guard Station in Grand Haven.
If officials know the motive for the strange behavior, they are not saying. Krueger who has no criminal history, let them know he was coming by making a phone bomb threat five minutes before he breached the gates at the Station. Krueger said little at his video arraignment.
The Judge ordered him held on 75-thousand dollars bond.
They estimate the damage at about 15-thousand dollars.
This could just be the beginning of his legal troubles. He is also suspected of torching the place where he was living in Oceana County and could also face federal terrorism charges.
He could get 20 to 30 years on the state charges he now faces.
