DETROIT (WKZO) — Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez will miss part of the upcoming season due to a knee injury.
The ballclub says Martinez will require surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. The operation will be performed by sports orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Florida, but no estimated recovery time has been announced by the Tigers.
Martinez missed the entire 2012 season due to an injury to the same knee.
