DETROIT (KZO) — Jeb Bush came to Detroit what some say is the first major policy address of his presidential campaign. He calls his plan the “Right to Rise” and says the Republican Party can help recreate the middle class with education reforms that offer opportunity.
Detroit has become the symbol for a lot of things when it comes to the nation’s economy, take your pick from urban dead zone to all-American comeback story.
Its an example the former Florida Governor would like to emulate.
He told a friendly crowd at the Detroit Economic Club that he has been very impressed by Detroit’s resurgence.
Democratic Chair Lon Johnson was quick to point out that its no thanks to Republicans like Bush who opposed the Auto Bailout.
Most of the coverage focused on the presidential issue of the week: measles, and the question; to vaccinate or not to vaccinate?
Bush did not want to be misinterpreted so he kept it simple. He said yes all children should be vaccinated. Chris Christie and Rand Paul were both slammed when they suggested otherwise earlier this week.
Its not just children who need to make sure their inoculations for the Measles are up to date.
Jennifer Smith at the Michigan Dept. of Community Health says adults should check with their doctor and see if they have been updated as an adult.
The one case of measles recorded in Michigan so far this year is an adult from Oakland County.
Boosters shots are available.
