LANSING (WKZO) — State Representative Harvey Santana of Detroit is no longer allowed to take part in any caucus meetings with his fellow Democrats. Santana says he was kicked out on Tuesday for accepting the post of minority vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee after all other Democrats on the committee declined the position.
The squabble was over House Speaker Kevin Cotter appointing Santana to the seat after Minority Leader Tim Greimel claimed Cotter had agreed to the Democrats’ selection of Brandon Dillon of Grand Rapids for the job. In a statement, Santana said he’s “disappointed” with how the situation “dragged out,” accusing Greimel of blowing it “way out of proportion.”
