GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — Eighty-one-year-old Tony Trapani of Grand Rapids made national news last month when he met a man he believed was a long-lost son he never knew he had, based on a letter his late wife had hidden from him mailed by a former girlfriend. A DNA test, however, has proven that Samuel Childress is not his son despite the claim.
Childress’s wife tells the “Grand Rapids Press” that the news has been hard on both men, but they say the test results won’t change the bond that has been formed in a short amount of time.
