WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) — A deal is said to be close for the federal government to pay for a new 250-million dollar customs plaza for a new bridge between Detroit and Windsor.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson tells the “Detroit News” that a resolution is “close,” but didn’t have specifics. U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow echoed Johnson’s remarks, but added nothing is ready to be released yet.
The Canadian government is paying for the New International Trade Crossing, with the American share of the 2.1-billion dollar span to be paid back through tolls collected in Detroit.
