DETROIT (WKZO) –January was another good month for auto sales in the U.S.
Sales were up at Chrysler 14%, Ford sales jumped 15% and GM sales increased a whopping 18% in January of this year compared to last year.
While sales were strong part of the positive growth, a large part of the increase was due to the fact that sales figures last January were flattened by harsh winter weather. The same kind of weather we have experienced since this weekend.
Highlights included an 87-percent jump in dodge Challenger sales and Jeep Cherokee sales jumped 44-percent. Retail passenger sales were up by six-percent while utilities saw an increase and trucks gained 23-percent.
The January numbers also included a 29-percent jump for GMC, a 25-percent rise in Silverado sales and a three-percent increase for Cadillac.
