LANSING (WKZO) — The state Elevator Inspector accused of playing golf and doing other personal activities when he was supposed to be working 84 times from 2012 to 2014 is facing charges.
Three felony counts of fraud have been filed by Attorney General Bill Schuette against 63-year-old Werner Noll of Kalamazoo, who has held his current job since 1998. Noll is accused of covering up the license plate on his State of Michigan vehicle and removing decals on multiple occasions while playing golf on the clock.
Legislation has been introduced in the state Senate to add GPS tracking for all vehicles in the state fleet and require state ID badges to be scanned before the vehicle is started so there is a record of who was driving.
