BELLAIRE (WKZO) — Beer production by Short’s Brewing Company near Traverse City was high enough last year to propel the Bellaire brewery into the third spot on the list of Michigan’s largest beer makers.
Short’s produced 34-thousand-443 barrels of beer in 2014 to move past New Holland Brewing Company. Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo County is the state’s largest, followed by Founders out of Grand Rapids.
Short’s is the only one of the top four that sells its beer exclusively in Michigan, as Bell’s can be found as far west as southern California and New Holland sells its brews in more than 20 states.
