REDFORD (WKZO) — The Redford Township Police Department is facing a lawsuit from a blind man who says officers used a Taser on him last August without cause.
Carl Leatherberry says police came to his home on a noise complaint during a party he was hosting and left with a warning to turn down the music. He says when he went out to his car later, an officer that he believes was hiding in the bushes turned the stun gun on him without any warning.
The incident was captured by Leatherberry’s home surveillance cameras. He says he thought he was being robbed, as they didn’t say anything before using the Taser.
