GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — Investigators believe they finally have their man in the 1990 murder of Joel Battaglia in Grand Rapids.
Aurelias Marshall has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of open murder following a two-day probable cause hearing. During the hearing, Patricia Polite testified that Marshall told her early in the morning on June 11th, 1990 that he “hit a white boy” because the victim used a racial slur toward him.
Marshall’s brother, Acey, testified that he saw the attack by his brother and Malcolm Jeffries, and added Battaglia wasn’t fighting back as he was repeatedly punched in the face.
