WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) — The U.S. Supreme Court is agreeing to consider same-sex marriage this year. The high court will hear challenges to same-sex marriage bans in some states, including Michigan.
The cases will be heard in late April and a final decision is expected by late June. The key issue before the justices is whether same-sex couples have the right to marry under the Constitution.
The Supreme Court opened the door for same-sex marriage by striking down the federal Defense of Marriage Act in 2013.
