UNDATED (WHTC)- The former head of fund raising with The Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Rapids has avoided jail time by repaying more than 18 thousand dollars she is accused of stealing between 2012 and 2013. 47 year old Debra Wright was charged with embezzlement and could have received a five year prison sentence.
The Grand Rapids Catholic Diocese terminated Wright this past March after her malfeasance came to light. Wright plead guilty in November to the charges and paid back the funds this week in Kent County Circuit Court, although she now will have a felony criminal record.
