LANSING (WKZO) — Two bills which would have made dramatic changes to Michigan’s laws on concealed weapons permits that had the backing of the National Rifle Association will not be enacted.
Governor Snyder vetoed the package sponsored by Senator Mike Green Thursday, which had passed in the closing hours of the lame duck session. Snyder opposed the proposal in the bills that would have allowed a person who is the subject of a restraining order to be able to obtain a license to carry a concealed pistol, saying it could put domestic violence victims in more danger.
The bills were passed by the Senate to get Green’s support for the road funding package on the final night of the session.
