BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Battle Creek Police responded to a report of an unresponsive newborn in the 200-block of Oaklawn Drive just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
On arrival, they learned that a female who was unaware that she was pregnant had given birth at a home. Officers provided immediate medical attention and the child was taken to Bronson Battle Creek and pronounced dead.
The mother was also taken to the hospital and was last listed in stable condition. No charges are being sought, though the incident remains under investigation.
