WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) — The U.S. Supreme Court is rejecting consideration of a same-sex marriage case from Louisiana. However, justices are still weighing whether to take up similar cases from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee.
In the Louisiana case, the high court decided not to hear a challenge to the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court opened the door for same-sex marriage by striking down the federal Defense of Marriage Act in 2013.
Same-sex marriage is now legal in 36 states.
