Michigan State Police have issued a press release with the latest details on the massive traffic crash that took place on I-94 Friday.
- An estimated 123 vehicles were involved in the crash.
- There was at least one fatality in the incident.
- At last count, 23 people were injured.
- Multiple vehicles were involved in a fire at the center of the crash.
- A semi-truck carrying 44-thousand pounds of hazardous material prompted an evacuation order that was quickly lifted as Hazmat teams contained the material.
- Another semi-truck that caught fire was hauling fireworks that exploded.
- Non-injured drivers were taken to a Galesburg school while authorities investigate the crash.
- All vehicles involved are being taken to McDonalds towing in Kalamazoo.
- It is still estimated that both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway will be closed near mile marker 90 through at least the end of the day.
