KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– The New Years baby born at Bronson Methodist Hospital arrived at 1:46 in the morning.
Roman Dimitri Means weighed in at 8lbs., 4oz.
Mom Brittni Davis and dad Troy Means provided the photo. They say: “We are overjoyed and ecstatic”.
January first was his expected due date.
The Borgess New Years Baby arrived about an hour later.
“He’s a perfect baby and a perfect way to begin the new year” say Christina and Kevin Kuivenhoven.
Kevin William David Kuivenhoven was born six pound 15 ounces at 2:45 am on New Years morning at the Borgess Birthing Center.
We can’t be sure if he is the first in West Michigan because some hospitals have stopped the tradition of reporting the “New Years Baby”.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has suggested the change in policy, or that hospitals obtain parental consent and limit the information given in all birth announcements to avoid the risk of abduction or identity theft.
Then there is the school of thought that what a parent really wants is the last baby born in any given year. They become just as big a tax deduction with very little of the actual expense.
