KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM)– For the second time this week a Kalamazoo taxing unit has put a financial request on the May 3rd ballot next spring.
Last night the Kalamazoo School board approved asking voters to renew the Countywide Educational Enhancement Millage for another three years.
Finance Director Gary Start says it has helped offset cuts from the state in every school district in Kalamazoo County.
The 1.5-mill tax has won overwhelming support every time it has appeared on the ballot.
Tuesday night, the County Board approved asking voters to increase the surcharge on phone lines to fund consolidated 9-1-1 dispatch. That will also appear on the May 3rd ballot.
