KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Organizers are expecting nearly 1,000 county residents to attend next week’s “Project Connect” event at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center.
The aim of the event is to provide help to those who need it.
“This is a day where people can come that are underinsured, they don’t have insurance, maybe they’re homeless, maybe their transient — anybody from Kalamazoo County is welcome,” Gary Willoughby, a Project Connect volunteer, said.
Around 80 vendors will be on hand, Willoughby said.
“They’ll be talking about housing assistance, food assistance, employment assistance, family situations,” Willoughby said. “If you want a free haircut, there will be free haircuts there, and there will be free vision tests and health screenings.”
Those in attendance will also get a free lunch, Willoughby said.
The event runs from noon until 4 p.m. next Wednesday. More information can be found here.
