KALAMAZOO/PARCHMENT (WKZO AM/FM) – Lead pipe replacement projects in Kalamazoo and Parchment are both on schedule.
James Baker, Kalamazoo Public Services Director, said the project to replace roughly 300 lead service pipes with copper pipes in Parchment is on track to wrap up in December.
He said city crews are also on pace to swap 500 lead pipes for copper ones in Kalamazoo each year for the next 18 years.
The effort will cost about 1.7 million dollars in Parchment…and about 3.5 million in Kalamazoo.
