GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — A horrifying death in Grand Rapids.
A family pit bull has attacked and killed a three-week old infant.
Sgt. Terry Dixon says nobody witnessed the attack as it happened while the infant was left alone with three dogs for a period of time Thursday evening.
The baby was found with a severe head injury and one of the dogs had blood on its mouth. ‘
Doctors at DeVos Children’s Hospital did what they could but could not save the baby, who was pronounced dead Friday morning.
He says it’s a cautionary tale for parents, an example of why a small child should never be left alone with dogs. All three dogs have been quarantined. Child Protective Services is also investigating, because another child lives at the home.
