KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners has voted to extend the contract of County Administrator Tracie Moored.
The commissioners voted to approve the measure during a board meeting Tuesday night.
Although Moored has been working in Kalamazoo County Government since 2008, she has served as County Administrator since 2016.
“I want to thank the Board of Commissioners for their support and I look forward to continuing the important work of serving the residents of Kalamazoo County.” Moored said in a statement. “I’m proud to work with the dedicated and passionate county employees who are committed to making Kalamazoo County extraordinary.”
Before becoming the County Administrator, Moored worked for the county government as the Administrative Services Director. According to an official statement, Moored has worked to help make operations of the county government more efficient.
Since becoming the County Administrator, Moored has worked to make the processes of county government more transparent for the public. She has created an online portal to allow citizens to view government spending, as well as a monthly newsletter of government activities.
Other activities include overseeing a new animal shelter facility and a new Downtown Justice Facility.
“With so many complex projects evolving in Kalamazoo County, leadership continuity is important,” stated Board Chair Julie Rogers. “I look forward to continuing to serve with Administrator Moored in Kalamazoo County Government.”
Other officials are pleased about the contract renewal as well.
“Tracie Moored has been at the helm of Kalamazoo County’s extraordinary governance since first taking over as Administrator in late 2016 and hasn’t looked back,” said Board Vice-Chair Tracy Hall. “Moored has taken several tough projects head-on and her leadership has proven invaluable to the County Board, the County’s almost 1,000 employees, and the residents of Kalamazoo County.”
Moored’s contract will now be extended through February 17, 2023.
