MILTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County Sheriff deputies say a medical episode was the cause of a crash that took out power for some homes in Milton Township.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Bell Street and US-12.
They say that 38-year-old Nicholas Smith of Niles was traveling on Bell Street when he blacked out, drove through the intersection, and hit and severed a pole, before coming to a stop against some trees.
There was a temporary power outage for homes surrounding the crash.
Smith was wearing a seatbelt and no other vehicles were involved.
His current condition has not been released and the crash is still under investigation.
