KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A robber is now in custody after he was caught stepping out of his home in Kalamazoo.
Public Safety officers were called to the 2,900 block of Stadium Drive near the Knollwood neighborhood just before 7 p.m. Sunday after an employee at a nearby business said a man came in, threatened them with a handgun, and fled on foot with some money.
First responders launched K-9 Axl and reviewed camera footage where they identified the suspect.
An officer happened to be parked directly in front of the robber’s home when he walked outside and they took him into custody after discovering the stolen money in his pockets and a realistic Airsoft gun nearby.
The 65-year-old man was arrested for armed robbery and outstanding warrants and booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
