CASS COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A pool party to celebrate the birthday of a young boy turned horribly tragic when one of the boys attending the event drowned.
Cass County Deputies responded to the private pool at a home on M-51 in Howard Township at 9:00 Saturday night.
They report the 11-year-old boy disappeared under the surface until someone noticed that he was lying on the bottom of the pool.
Other children brought him back to the surface and parents began CPR immediately.
EMT’s took over when they arrived and continued efforts to resuscitate the boy. He was taken to Lakeland Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
His name hasn’t been released out of respect for the grieving parents. For now it’s being called an accidental drowning.
