HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) will receive its full $300 million in funding — with two critical steps.
The legislation approved by the U.S. House still needs to be passed by the Senate and signed into law by President Donald Trump.
Congressman Fred Upton of St. Joseph called the vote great news for our Great Lakes.
President Trump has tried more than once to drastically slash the funding for the program, which pays for a variety of programs to maintain and improve the quality of the lakes.
House and Senate leaders in March struck a deal blocking the attempt by Trump to cut the GLRI budget from $300 to $30 million.
