LANSING (WKZO-AM/FM) — It’s not easy to get Democrats and Republicans to agree on much in Lansing, let alone a measure involving the rights of gays, but Rep. Jon Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, did this week.
He won support of a resolution against the persecution of gay people in Chechnya.
Hoadley claims they have been rounding up gays, jailing them, torturing them and killing some of them.
The resolution called on the international criminal courts to continue their investigation and take action. He said it was one of the first times the House was able to pass a resolution that recognizes the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
