KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) –After all the hoopla that went along with the grand opening of the Alamo Drafthouse, the announcement of its pending closure came quietly in an announcement on its social media page.
The Texas based movie chain claims in a filing with the state that the company that owns the building has sold the place and the new firm isn’t renewing the lease.
They will remain open until April 3r, 2017 They will be honoring gift cards until then.
There is word that the show will go on…that a new operator will be moving in but no details have been released.
The unique operation that blended food, drinks and cinema in one package opened in November of 2013 in Kalamazoo.
A petition has been started to urge the firm to stay.
