LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Is collecting petition signatures by mail pragmatic or panic for Clean Michigan Government?
Over 100,000 petitions were mailed out by the group late last month in an effort to reach the nearly 316,000 plateau needed to place the question of a part-time legislature on the November 2018 statewide ballot.
While some see this as an act of desperation by the group, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, who handed the reins of this effort over to former lakeshore state lawmaker Dave Agema and Tom McMillin when he announced his run for Governor last month, doesn’t agree. “You know, as the weather turns colder, there are fewer people in gatherings at outdoor places, where you normally gather signatures from, so the strategy has to shift.” Calley explained in an Tuesday interview on “WHTC Morning News.”
Clean Michigan Government staffers have been told not to disclose any figures as to how many signatures the group has collected thus far, only to say that they remain confident of achieving their goal by next month’s deadline.
