CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Charges will likely result from a delayed chain-reaction hit and run that involved both a police cruiser and a tow truck early Sunday morning in Calhoun County.
It began when a Sheriff’s Deputy’s cruiser was hit broadside by a man who may have been drunk and speeding.
It happened around 1:40 am at North Avenue and Coolidge Street. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A little over an hour later when a wrecker from McClaines Towing was hauling away one of the vehicles involved in the first crash, it was struck by another wayward driver.
The at-fault driver then jumped out of the vehicle and ran away on foot.
A K-9 tracker was deployed but lost the scent.
