LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Through an executive order, Governor Snyder has created the Michigan Prescription Drug and Opioid Abuse Commission that will address the growing abuse of such substances in this state.
The 17-member advisory board within the Executive Office will be comprised of state and independent health experts that will be responsible for monitoring indicators of controlled substance abuse and diversion across Michigan, making recommendations to the Governor concerning licensing, law enforcement, treatment and prevention, education, professional associations and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
The Commission will also go over recommendations made last fall by a special task force, developing policies and an action plan based on those findings.
