UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — WalletHub.com says Michigan fared well among the website’s 2016 listing of best states for retirees.
The Great Lakes State finished 17th and was one of the top Midwest states on the list.
Its highest marks were in quality of life, which encompasses things like entertainment, air quality, weather, the labor market and the percentage of residents over 65. Michigan, however, was closer to the middle of the pack in affordability and healthcare.
Florida, Wyoming and South Dakota topped the list, while Connecticut, Hawaii and Rhode Island were the bottom three states. Hawaii, despite being a tropical paradise, faired very poorly in affordability and life quality.
